But I took the value of its entirety and kicked it up to 4 Stars. The finale came abruptly (sinking to 3 Stars) and the ending had an overload of Let's-Explain-Everything-While-Sweeping-Up. The killer had to tread water while we went down extraneous avenues. Then it was a bit of overkill with the overuse of the social influencers and it weighed the story down at times. Quite original and quite fascinating.ĭark Corners started out with a bang and a solid 4 Stars in the making. I've never seen this used in a novel before. Goldin also creates a character that has a rare medical condition. Maddison bears one of those aforementioned tattoos. Rachel will finagle an invitation so that she can infiltrate this tight pod of people. One of their members, Maddison Logan, is missing. There's a conference from BuzzCon that will wine and dine these individuals. Megan Goldin introduces us to the high tension life of social media influencers. And it just so happens that he's mentioned Rachel's name.

She has legions of fans since she was able to shine a light in solving a recent crime. Rachel seems to have developed more of a hardcore attitude in Dark Corners. This one definitely reads as a standalone, but pick up Night Swim that introduces us to Rachel. Seems to show up on the slender arms of the recently dead.ĭark Corners is the second book in the Rachel Krall Series by Megan Goldin.
